Norwalk CT is a coastal New England city steeped in more than 350 years of nautical history, Norwalk CT is bordered by 22 miles of Long Island Sound and the towns of New Canaan CT, Darien CT & Westport CT. Norwalk Harbor, formed where Norwalk River flows into the Sound, is an important center of recreational and commercial boating activity, and one of the largest oyster-producing ports in the nation.

Norwalk's thriving arts and cultural community provides diverse educational and recreational opportunities. The annual SoNo Arts Celebration in Norwalk attracts more than 80,000 visitors every August. The Norwalk Museum can be found in the old Norwalk City Hall building, and The SoNo Switch Tower Museum tells the story of railroad switch operators who worked at the tower. The Stepping Stones Museum for Children, ranked one of the top 50 children's museums in the country, provides five galleries of interactive exhibits for children 10 and under. The Norwalk Seaport Association hosts the annual Norwalk CT Oyster Festival and promotes the preservation and restoration of the shorefront area, including the Sheffield Lighthouse. The lighthouse, located on Sheffield Island Norwalk CT, began active service in 1868. Its grounds are maintained as a museum and preserve.
Much of Norwalk CT 's rich past is being preserved and revitalized in the historic SoNo (South Norwalk) waterfront district. With more than 30 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Norwalk’s Mill Hill Historic Park is home of the Norwalk Historical Society.
Norwalk CT began efforts to bring new life to this area in the 1970s. The development of The Maritime Aquarium and IMAX Theater, Norwalk CT, has helped SoNo flourish, with more than 500,000 visitors drawn to the aquarium each year. The aquarium features a 110,000-gallon shark tank, seals, river otters, jelly fish and other creatures. Enjoy spectacular IMAX movies on the giant six-story screen. SoNo Norwalk CT is now home to an array of shops, restaurants, lounges and more.

The Oak Hills Park Golf Course is open to Norwalk Residents and Non-Residents, a minimum of 10 years of age or older. The facility has 18 holes, pro shop, restaurant and a tennis court center. Season is mid-March through mid-December, weather permitting.
Public libraries include the East Norwalk Public Library, the Norwalk Public Library and the South Norwalk Branch Public Library.

Norwalk is easily accessed via the Metro North Train, New Haven Line. The East Norwalk station is located at 281 East Avenue & 1 Winfield Street. The South Norwalk station is located at 29 Monroe Street and 1 Chestnut Street. Both stations offer direct train access to Grand Central Station. The trip is approximately 65 minutes.
Amtrak train service stops in the adjacent cities of Stamford and Bridgeport
The Boston Post Rd (also known as East Putnam Ave or Route 1) passes through Norwalk. Interstate 95 also passes through Norwalk and allows access via exits 13-16.
