Darien CT
Located along the shore of Long Island Sound, the town of Darien CT sits between the towns of Stamford CT and Norwalk CT. A picturesque small town of about 20,000 residents, Darien CT is recognized for its excellent schools, active churches representing seven denominations, social clubs and civic organizations.
Darien CT community involvement is strong in this close-knit town. Cherry Lawn Park, Darien CT, features a community garden, where green thumbs of all ages can enjoy cultivating their own plot of land. Also within the park is the Darien CT Nature Center, featuring live animal habitats, educational programs and workshops, a nature trail, a spring-fed pond and a children's garden. The Darien Arts Center, Darien CT, is a major part of the city's cultural life, promoting visual and performing arts through classes, performances and exhibits. Darien CT 's public library is ranked one of the top 10 libraries of its size in the country.
For outdoor enthusiasts, there are a number of social clubs for golf, water activities and more. The Wee Burn Country Club and Woodway Country Club both offer attractive Beach Clubs on the Sound, as well as their golf courses, pro shops and other facilities. Also available are the Country Club of Darien, Tokeneke Beach Club, Noroton Yacht Club, Middlesex Swim Club and Ox Ridge Hunt Club. Darien CT public beaches include Pear Tree Point and Weed Beach, with barbecues, playgrounds and paddle tennis courts. There are a number of Youth Sports Leagues including baseball, softball, football, lacrosse, hockey and sailing teams.

Transportation
Originally part of Stamford CT, Darien CT was incorporated as a town in 1820. The business center developed first by the harbor, but shifted to near the Darien CT railroad station after the New Haven Railroad Line came through in 1848.
The Darien station is easily accessed via the Metro North Train, New Haven Line and is located in the heart of Darien at 33 West Avenue. The station offers a 51-minute express train to New York City's Grand Central Station.
Amtrak train service stops in the adjacent city of Stamford.
The Boston Post Rd (also known as East Putnam Ave or Route 1) passes through Darien. Interstate 95 also passes through Darien and allows access via exits 10-12.
Shopping
Great shopping areas have developed in the former Darien CT business district, with Goodwives Shopping Plaza, Noroton Heights Shopping Center and a number of shops along Post, Tokeneke and Heights roads.
