Greenwich Hospital, founded in 1903, opened a new $60 million facility in 1999 to better serve the Greenwich area. The Greenwich Library underwent a nearly $28 million expansion and renovation about the same time, creating a building with both distinct architecture and hi-tech capabilities. Greenwich's public schools are top-notch, serving 9,000 students. The district encompasses one high school, three middle schools, and eleven elementary schools.
