Stamford CT

A beautiful coastal city located just 25 miles northeast of New York City, Stamford, Connecticut has had many changing faces over the past century, evolving from the major port between New Haven and New York City at the turn of the 20th century, to "The Research City" in the 1970s, to the third-largest corporate center in the country in the 1980s. The city's latest evolution began in the late 1990s, as Stamford cemented its status as a major financial center.

Stamford is a city of approximately 117,000 citizens that offers both urban and suburban elements. Stamford is an economically sound community and continues to pursue appropriate economic development initiatives to both attract and retain companies and corporations. Stamford CT has protected its coastline area with large tracts of open land, including a number of public parks for recreational use. A busy boating area with a plethora of marina slips, Stamford also has great beaches, including Cove Island Park, Cummings Beach and West Beach.

The E. Gaynor Brennan Golf Course is open to all Stamford Residents and is owned and operated by the City of Stamford.  The facility has 18 holes, a pro shop and restaurant. Season is mid-March through mid-December, weather permitting.

Stamford offers a variety of public and private education options including magnet schools at all grade levels. The Stamford Public School district consists of 20 schools: 11 elementary (grades K-5), 1 elementary/middle (grades K-8), 5 middle schools (grades 6-8); and three high schools (grades 9-12). After-school enrichment programs and clubs are offered at elementary, middle and high schools. Sports are available through varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams, intramurals, city leagues and the Stamford Youth Foundation. The University of Connecticut's Stamford campus, located downtown, offers both undergraduate and graduate programs and enhances the high school curriculum. The Ferguson Library, Stamford's main public library, offers four floors of open stacks and is located in the heart of downtown Stamford.  There are also three branches located around the city.

Access New York City's Grand Central Station in just 46 minutes on Metro North railroad from the Stamford train station. The Stamford train station also supports Amtrak's high-speed Acela service to Washington, D.C. and Boston.
